Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Ready For Monday Polls
The Commandant General was speaking after the cancellation of the day’s elections and its subsequent postponement. He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must have taken the step to cancel Saturday’s election because it deemed it as the best way to solve the situation at hand.
He vowed that the Corps would always respond to the calls of authorities whenever the elections would be retaken.
Responding to the mob action at Maraba area of Karu, the Commandant General said it was unfortunate and called on warring parties to solve issues amicably.
“In the process of trying to understand one another, there could be a misunderstanding but we have to take care of our differences in the best way”, Dr. Abolurin said.
He added that “It is natural to have this during elections but our assignment is always as before, during and after election…we will continue to do our best in all circumstances.
Officers of the Corps were almost everywhere during the aborted elections in the FCT while the Commandant General was also seen inspecting polling centers in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
