Terry G Sacked

Beleaguered music star, Gabriel ‘Terry G’ Amanyi, has been sacked by his management outfit, Now Muzik. According to the Chief Operating Officer, Now Muzik, Tony Anifite who issued a press statement to the effect, the company’s stems from the fact that the artiste and the company have been unable to synchronise their visions. Interestingly, this is the second time in less than six months that the controversial artiste would be getting the boot from Now Muzik which signed him on alongside Timi Dakolo in November 2010.

At the time, a cross section of the media had raised eyebrows concerning how the outfit and Terry G intended to work together considering his proneness to scandals. The Chief Executive Officer, Now Muzik, Efe Omoregbe had allayed people’s fears, boasting that his outfit does not shy away from artistes like Terry G because “Some of these so-called controversies might not exactly be his creation. Basically, he needs a management team that can plan his itinerary and tours and engagements.” The reasoning then was that if Now Muzik could successfully manage Nigeria’s biggest hip hop star, Tuface Idibia, warts and all, then Terry G would be a piece of cake. Omoregbe knows better now obviously. Though a lot of transformation took place in Terry G’s outlook as he started wearing suits at public functions and generally comporting himself well, it was hard to take away the controversial and rambunctious part of him as he moved from one scandal to another.

Last March, the two parties first parted ways on allegations of Terry G’s irregularities and alleged refusal to turn up at shows he had been paid for, which required his managers to always make a refund, a situation that understandably never went down well with them, among other issues.

Typically, the media-shy producer-singer was unavailable for comments. But sources close to him say the eventual parting of ways was a welcome development for him because of the alleged high handedness and rigidness of Now Muzik in its dealings with Terry G. Anifite maintains that the relationship between both parties however remains cordial while wishing him success in his future endeavours.
