Mrs Kunmi Adebayo, a member of staff said nobody knew the cause of the fire incident.
She further said,“I work at the administration department but when I saw people running, I joined them. One has to act fast when it comes to fire disaster,” she said. A student, who identified himself as Jare, said many students had left the campus in protest against the hike in tuition fees adding that it was possible that some of the aggrieved students burned the library as a form of protest. It was gathered that the fire was caused by electricity surge, which had since been rectified by the university maintenance unit.
