59 Boko Haram Members Killed In Damaturu’s Attack
The Joint Task Force (J.T.F) set up to quell the Boko Haram menace rocking the Northern part of the country, in the early hours of yesterday, launched a successful operation on the sects operational stronghold in Damaturu, Yobe state, killing 59 of the sect members and destroying their armoury, Chief of army staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika said Friday.
According to him, “last night, there was major encounter with Boko Haram at Damaturu and as I speak, the operation is still ongoing. The Boko Haram brought into use some heavy arsenal and I want to inform you that we have been able to run down their major stronghold after several hours of encounter and their armour dump in Damaturu was also destroyed.
And as is usual in any such encounter, we lost 3 of our soldiers, 7 were wounded but we killed over 50 of their members. They came with sophisticated and heavy weaponry including GPMG’s, SMG’s and bombs but our trained soldiers subdued them”.
