Nigeria Drops In FIFA Rankings
NIGERIA has dropped two places in the FIFA rankings from the 43rd position it occupied last December to 45th, according to the latest rankings released by the world football governing body on its official website yesterday.
Also dropped two places on the rankings, Cote d’Ivoire remains Africa’s number one as it is ranked 18th in the world followed by Ghana which moved up three places to be Africa’s second best and occupied the 26th position in the world.
World and European champion, Spain stayed atop FIFA’s mainly unchanged rankings.
The top 10 places remained the same after just 11 international matches were played last month.
Australia was up two places to share the 21st position with Mexico.
The Netherlands were second, ahead of Germany, South American champion Uruguay and England. Brazil, Portugal, Croatia, Italy and Argentina complete the elite places.
Chile moved up one spot to number twelve trading places with Russia. Switzerland and Sweden also rose one place above, to numbers sixteen and seventeen.
Africa Cup of Nations host teams, Gabon and Equitorial Guinea are numbers ninety-one and one hundred and fifty-one in the world respectively.
