Academic Staff Union of universities (ASUU) says the strike would be called off before mid-february. ASUU said the offers made by the Federal Government at the last meeting held on the 23 of January 2011 were being ‘studied’ by the stakeholders.
The ASUU President, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday said that discussions were on with the various stakeholders adding that the union is concerned with quick resolution of the issues.
“I am optimistic that the union will make its stand known before mid- February. We have taken the outcome of the Abuja meeting to the National Executive Committee of the union after which we shall also be taking it to our congress and various state branches.

This highlights the problems of our educational system and slow response to nagging issues. No offence meant but the obvious gramatical blunders in the previous comments made by my fellow u’versity students, highlights the consequences.

Asuu shld at least cal off d strike in d interest of d student, afteral govt has done sometin. As parents, can Asuu members meet al d demand of their wards? Maybe they (ASUU) want 2 use strike isues 2 go on holidays like student. If not ar they d only govt staff? What has Asuu achievd from d strike in past that is of benefit 2 both students & other stakeholders in educatn? It is only 4 themselves. Pls think twice.
