Boko haram:Bankers,Civil Servants fail to resume work in Yobe
Workers in Yobe state have refused to resume work even after Governor Ibrahim Gaidam directives for all workers to resume work and an appeal to Boko haram to ceasefire. The head of ministries, MDAs and over 16000 civil servants did show up at their duty posts.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam who made the appeal on Saturday last week announced that measures are been put in place to compensate and re-settle victims of incessant attacks, killings and flood.
Despite the call for peace, gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, destroyed 13 masts of GSM firms and the house of mother in law of Gaidam last week.
A security guard disclosed that superior officers could not report to duty as most of them had fled or traveled to their home towns. Financial institutions failed to open for business and even ATMs located at bank premises were not dispensing cash.
