Boko Haram sect leader, Abu Qaqa arrested in Kano
Nigeria Security Operatives on Sunday arrested the top commanders of the Boko Haram militant group. Sources in the state security service, SSS disclosed that Abu Qaqa, the sect spokesman and other top commanders were arrested when the Kano state Joint Task Force JTF swept on the sect hide-outs in Kano.
Although the Kano JTF could not confirm the identity of those arrested, an independent source told PREMIUM TIMES that the sect’s spokesman, Abu Qaqa was one of those arrested.
The non- disclosure as revealed by PREMIUM TIMES was because the arrested members were refusing to co-operate with security operatives.
The Federal Government is also trying to be careful about disclosing the names of the arrested officials perhaps for the fear of embarrassment, the type it suffered in the year when it disclosed that Abu Qaqa, the spokeman has been arrested which was later confirmed to be false.
SSS spokesman refused to comment on the arrest
