Match Report: UEFA Champions league

Montpellier  vs  Arsenal (1-2)

Arsenal came from behind to win their first Champions League game of the season thanks to goals from Lukas Podolski and Gervinho.

French champions Montpellier took the lead inside the first ten minutes when Thomas Vermaelen brought down Younes Belhanda and he got up to coolly chip home the penalty.

But the Gunners hit back with two goals in two minutes when first German international Podolski scored in the bottom right corner and then Gervinho turned in a Carl Jenkinson cross from close range.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City(3-2)

Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the last minute of normal time to deny Manchester City a share of the spoils in Madrid.

The Premier League champions were comprehensively outplayed by Real Madrid but took the lead against the run of play when Dzeko, who had been on the field a matter of minutes, kept his cool to slot the ball past Iker Casillas in the home goal.

But Madrid scored the goal their play deserved when Brazilian Marcelo’s shot from 25 yards was deflected over the despairing Joe Hart. Alexandr Kolarov then scored from a free kick which eluded everyone in the area before Benzema slotted home with just minutes remaining.

Ronaldo then fired in from the edge of the box with a shot that Hart will feel he could have kept out.
