On Wednesday, the House of Representatives agitated for the increase in their quarterly allowance. This is coming just after resumption from two months recess.
The present per quarter allowance is put at N27m but the lawmakers want it increased to N35m. Questions of financial impropriety against the leadership of the house were raised by some lawmakers after the closed door session.
Tambuwal was said to have used the session, which lasted for over two hours, to explain to his aggrieved colleagues that the leadership was transparent in the running of House accounts.
A source however explained that the delay in the payment of pending allowance was caused by paucity of funds. The speaker tried to convince members that there was the need to prudent manage resources.
