The former vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Olufemi Bamiro has been shot in Ibadan by unknown gunmen.
The tenth vice chancellor of the premier university in Nigeria was said have been shot last night by unknown men who had trailed him and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital Ibadan where he is currently receiving treatment.
When contacted, the media officer of the university, Olatunji Oladejo confirmed the incident adding that the former vice chancellor of the institution was shot in Ibadan and not inside the institution.
According to him, the former VC was admitted at the private ward of the teaching hospital.
He added that Prof. Bamiro is responding to treatment at the hospital and that the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Gbemisola Oke has visited him at the hospital on behalf of the institution.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Dsp Adekunle Ajisebutu was not available for comment as at the time of this report.
